The truth about GE crops in our media

There have been a few media reports over the last week, e.g. in the New York Times, about the supposed safety of GE crops and foods. Some refer to the “scientific consensus” that GE crops and foods are safe and all major regulatory bodies have said so.

Unfortunately for those proponents of GE crops, 297 European scientists were clearly very worried that non-scientists think GE crops are safe, and have said there is no scientific consensus on the safety of GE crops and foods, nor is there consensus among regulatory bodies. For details go here:

For a thorough piece on how our wonderfully non-biased media has dealt with the issue of GE crops and foods, go here:

As Billy Bragg sang (Brits will get this):

When you wake up to the fact
That you paper is tory
Just remember, there are two sides to every story

  1. Phlegm all the time now after eating. Last week it was a popular pizza brand. I called to ask and was told there’s no GE wheat grown in Canada, so maybe there’s Canola oil in the crust ? Either way it’s on my growing ” do not eat” list. Potatoes, perogees, meat. All causing endless throat clearing and hacking fits.

  2. Thinking about what local organic farm I’m gonna get my produce from. Too bad we gotta wait till May. Many CSAs probably taking cheques now for the coming season. time to start planning this years garden patch!
