Avoid eating GE sweetcorn

Monsanto’s new genetically modified (GM) sweetcorn may be at your local grocery store and farmers market!

Take Action:

Ask your farmer and your local grocery store manager if they are selling GM sweet corn. Ask them to make sure their supply is non-GM for next year!
Write to the major grocery chains that serve your area – visit their website to send an email or write your letter.

Stop the GE apple – sign the petition

This petition is going to the BC legislature. Help stop the GE apple. Remember we will likely have a new government in place in 2013 and we want to send a clear message of support to courageous Lana Popham, NDP Agriculture Critic, that British Columbians don’t want GE crops.

Sign the petition to make North Vancouver a GE Free zone

EcoUrbia and the Society for a Genetically Free BC will be asking North Vancouver City Council to oppose the cultivation of genetically modified crops, plants and trees in the City of North Vancouver. There are now eight GE Free zones in BC, including Richmond. North Vancouver could be next!

For the reasons below, and many others, we ask that North Vancouver City Council support a resolution to ban the growing of genetically engineered crops within City limits.
